SHORT FILM :: Heart Of Nowhere

Some time not far from now, it was decided that adolescents were detrimental to a well-functioning society. Upon turning thirteen, teenagers were quarantined onto an island within the city, colloquially known as Teenland. At the age of 18, the inhabitants of Teen-land are forced to join adulthood. The memories of their childhood are erased and they start a new life In this slightly dystopian scape, lives a band, The Nuclear Toads. After being rounded up to be processed for adulthood, they manage to escape and buy themselves one last night of adolescence in which they will perform their final show. This film is the story of that night.

Non spetta al pensiero farci scoprire chi siamo, ma alle emozioni. Prendere atto di ciò che si prova davanti al mondo è il solo modo che abbiamo per conoscere meglio il nostro carattere. Pensare, è invece un segno di identità, la certezza di avere un luogo proprio dentro di sé, uno spazio privato dove ogni scenario diventa possibile. Non è un'azione automatica come il battito del cuore o il respiro, è piuttosto qualcosa di simile a un riflesso o un effetto, un'arena dove incontri e legami, lotte e alleanze, s'intrecciano di continuo sotto ai nostri occhi. Infatti, pensiamo sempre grazie a qualcosa, in relazione a qualcosa o contro qualcosa, ma mai spontaneamente.

SHORT FILM :: Hitch Hike

Hitch Hike is a story of an 18 year old boy who hitch hikes across New Zealand determined to meet his birth mother.  

There’s a distinct fear associated with hitchhiking both for the driver and for the hitch hiker. One never knows who they are picking up and one never know who is picking them up. When the man aggressively turns his car around after the boy screams ‘fuck you’ at him we can feel the immediate threat and the immediate fear.

Dressed in Nike hi-tops and a bold Yves Saint Laurent t-shirt, it is clear the boy is hyper aware of his identity and is not only out on a quest to meet his mother, but also on a quest to discover himself. While the boy broadcasts logos as symbols of his identity, in a sense the tattooed man does so as well. The tattoos on his face, his body, and hands, are projections of an image that he not only has of himself, at least arbitrarily, more importantly, it dictates how others perceive him.
