Walter Wittek (born 1943) is a German artist, goldsmith and sculptor whose work dissolves the boundaries between art and design with poetic clarity. Since the late 1970s, he has cultivated a distinctive visual language in his studio in Vreden, Westphalia.
Wittek achieved international recognition with the design of the Spannring (Tension Ring), a technical and aesthetic breakthrough in which a diamond is held solely by the tension of the metal, appearing to float freely.
