Stasera al teatro Mercelis ho assistito a un recital di un attore sconosciuto che ha letto dei brani di Jean-Philippe Toussaint. Lo faceva scandendo bene i periodi, senza impennate di voce, con rispetto e sentimento, alla maniera di un prete che legge il Vangelo la domenica. Credo che anche il violino disapprovasse cominciando ad agonizzare. La noia, che ha una cognizione del tempo molto limitata ma è capace di uccidere anche il sonno, mi è venuta in soccorso ricordandomi questo dialogo di William Kennedy che mi ha restituito il buonumore: 

«Sa» disse «non so perché sto qui». 

«In questa stanza o in questo mondo?».
