Oggi ho imparato qualcosa da una mostra d'arte povera, o come la chiamano qui, art de rien. Una collettiva di artisti che condividono la passione per il più piccolo gesto e la predilezione per i materiali di poco valore. Quando l'economia di mezzi è al servizio di un'idea e la povertà si lega a umorismo e poesia, anche opere realizzate quasi dal nulla possono tenere testa a esposizioni sfarzose.

Passeggiata natalizia lungo le Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert. Ogni volta che ci vengo ne esco rasserenato. Ho la sensazione di chi, restando "nella vita", si scopre all'interno di un'opera d'arte e l'attraversa. Più entri con l'aria di volere agire, più trovi difficile nascondere la tua insignificanza. Qui non serve capire, devi svuotarti, meravigliarti e dimenticare quello che già sai. E tutto diventa molto più gradevole.

SHORT FILM 🎬 Our Males and Females

 

In many cultures, the washing of a dead person is a ritual performed as a final act to cleanse the body from impurities. So when the parents at the center of Ahmad Alyaseer’s short film Our Males and Females receive the body of their deceased daughter from abroad, following these traditions, she has to be washed before being shrouded. Customs dictate that this washing should be performed by those of the same gender, but for this father and mother their daughter is trans and they don’t know how to proceed. In Our Males and Females, Alyaseer takes a hard look at how far discrimination and rejection can go, even in the face of death.
