Hiroshi Nakamura & NAP :: Optical Glass House

Located in downtown Hiroshima, this house by Hiroshi Nakamura & NAP has an optical facade consisting of 6,000 pure-glass blocks. As the house is located on a street with many passing cars and trams, the blocks effectively shuts out the noise enabling the creation of an open, articulated garden that allows the residents to enjoy the changing light as the day passes. The transparent facade when seen from either the garden or the street appears like a waterfall scattering light as it flows downward. The garden is visible from all rooms and the serene, soundless scenery of the passing cars and trams adds a certain richness to the house. Sunlight from the east, refracting through the glass, creates beautiful light patterns and rain striking the water-basin skylight manifests water patterns on the entrance floor.

Extrapolate

In this hand drawn animation a line is being extrapolated through a grid. When the line surpasses the boundaries of the grid, the process spreads to and reflects on its surroundings. Beyond each boundary the extrapolation of movement is causing deformation in a systematic but speculative way.

Cartolina da Barcellona (Diario Notturno 386)

Mentre lo Spazio può essere occupato, il Tempo può essere soltanto impiegato. Ne deriva che la principale differenza tra i due è che il Tempo non conserva traccia dell'avvenimento. La mente, da parte sua, ha cercato di colmare questa lacuna sviluppando la memoria che gli permette di collegare passato e presente a un luogo. Così il pensiero, che non sa anticipare quello che accadrà ma è in grado di rievocare l'accaduto, ha cominciato a popolare il Tempo, inaugurando definitivamente la sua Storia.
