Forse perché le cellule del cervello non si rinnovano mai, all'uomo risulta impossibile modificare il carattere. Costretto per tutta la vita a imitarsi, coerente per incapacità di cambiare, anche quando giura con le lacrime agli occhi di essere diventato un altro, finge o mente a se stesso, proprio come quegli attori che una volta finito il film restano intrappolati nel loro personaggio.
