Novastructura :: Transmutation #01

Transmutation#01 is a generative system composed of two multicellular agents in a Voronoi spatial configuration. Each cell owns a color/saturation information. The cells interact with each other and with the other agent. The two agents are different. The circular one, the most active and in evolution, constantly tries to reorganize its shape and color structures, connecting similar colors in concentric formations. Moreover the saturation and shape of its colors aggregates are influenced by the duration and proximity of the interaction with the other pluricellular agent, whose motion is abstract and immutable. The metaphor at the heart of this system is a reference to the subject of the 2012 Gender Docufilm Festival in Rome, for which this video was created, that precisely addresses the issues related to the the reengineering and the transmutation of the sexual, physical, mental identity, through the collision / confrontation with the external reality.

Creare un sistema che metta ordine al Caos e lo contenga: è questa la pretesa dei filosofi fin dall'antichità. In realtà non sono mai andati al di là di ipotesi ben oliate che al primo attrito con la scienza s'inceppavano. Esaurita la possibilità di spiegare il mondo con il linguaggio, recentemente hanno cominciato a citarsi a vicenda, un po' come quei giovani poeti che prendono immagini da più libri e le collegano tra loro sperando che il lettore ci trovi un'unità. Questo è stato senz'altro un passo avanti e, tra i modelli da seguire, certamente il più sostenibile: le teorie continuano a essere inattuabili ma i singoli frammenti almeno sono riciclabili.

Martín and Violeta are spending a romantic night on the beach. As dawn breaks a boat full of illegal immigrants arrives at the cove where they are sleeping. A woman in the boat, a sub-Saharan called Amina, is about to give birth. Hemisphere is away to show us the contrast between two different worlds which are brought together in a dramatic event.
