I libri che possiedo mi sopravviveranno. Per loro sono un'ombra di passaggio, un lettore di cui non rimarrà traccia. Li ho comperati come si fa con un farmaco o del cibo, per alleviare la pena di vivere e per nutrire il demone della conoscenza. Se anche ammettessi di averli saccheggiati per rubare le idee che mi mancavano, non mi sentirei più in colpa d'un cannibale o un vampiro. Perché è l'indole a creare il destino, non il contrario. Il vero pericolo è quando si cerca la vendetta per ciò che ci è negato, ma se il delitto nasce dalla necessità, chi è in realtà il male, Giuda o i trenta denari?

London in 1927 & 2013

During the 1920s, cinematographer Claude Friese-Greene travelled across the UK with his new colour film camera. His trip ended in London, with some of his most stunning images, and these were recently revived and restored by the BFI, and shared across social media and video websites. Simon Smith has attempted to capture every one of his shots, standing in his footsteps, and using modern equivalents of his camera and lenses.
