Se il rapporto con se stessi è difficile è perché attribuiamo all'Io un'unità che in realtà non possiede. Gli uomini sono sempre il prodotto dei pregiudizi di chi li ha educati, della religione che gli hanno imposto e delle persone da cui sono stati amati o delusi. Non c'è scelta: o stare al gioco e accettare di diventare quello che non si è, oppure fuggire il mondo come la peste. A volte penso che soltanto chi è stato abbandonato sui gradini di un orfanotrofio e non ha bussato a nessuna porta in cerca del passato, sappia chi è veramente.
