SHORT FILM :: Magpie
On a trip to reconnect with his estranged and recently engaged daughter Maggie, Phillip finds himself alone at her home, building a picture of her through the objects in her house. Shuffling though a stack of home videos Philip stumbles on an intimate sex tape of his daughter and her new fiance Aaron. Driven by the guilt of his absence and the curiosity to learn who his daughter is, Philip watches the tape; an act that reflects his own cowardice and forces him to confront his irresponsibility as a father. Dinner is going to be awkward.

| Companies like Agip, Chevron, Shell and Total burn the gas released during the oil extraction process, causing acid rain and changing the marine biotope as a result of their seismic activities far from the coast. Drinking water is contaminated by oil leaks in drill holes which are not properly sealed, and fish can only be caught in the polluted waterways. Tons of oil have been extracted from the Niger Delta every day since the 1960s, and all the money goes to the multinationals and the Nigerian government. The local population, on the other hand, confronted with the negative effects of the oil industry, has only disadvantages.Ever since the beginning of the 1990s, local guerrilla groups have been throwing a spanner in the works of oil production – it is a long and complicated history. The MEND movement demands a share of the oil money and was the first group to radicalize the fight, taking western oil employees hostage. |

SHORT FILM :: Lost & Found
In a remote corner of New Zealand’s South Island, tucked away among the last remaining tracts of native forest, lies a little-known place of wonder. It is the life’s work and extraordinary creation of inventor, artist and self-confessed tinkerer, Blair Somerville.
For over ten years Blair has single-handedly owned, operated and ceaselessly expanded the Lost Gypsy Gallery, his wonderland of homegrown wizardry and a playground for kids and adults alike. Using only recycled materials, Blair takes DIY to artistic extremes. His creations are ingenious, interactive, and often hilariously impractical. They take many shapes and forms and share an uncanny ability to amaze, entertain and inspire.
‘Lost & Found’ invites you to take a peek into Blair's bizarre and beautiful world.
